About this article

Punched holes give you 25 mm steps, which is either slightly too tight or slightly too loose after lunch. The ratchet track is moulded into the flesh side at 5 mm pitch, so you get around thirty positions instead of seven. Squeeze the buckle lever to release. The strap still cuts to length — that is how you set the overall size.

  • ~5 mm adjustment steps, ~30 positions
  • No punched holes to stretch or tear
  • Trim-to-fit tail, lever release

Read this before you order

  • The ratchet buckle is a mechanism with moving parts. Keep it free of grit; do not oil it.

Care

Wipe the strap dry after wet weather and let it dry away from radiators. Balm the flesh side twice a year so the strap stays supple where it folds through the buckle.

Leather, materials and compliance

Natural characteristics. Grain variation, visible pores, healed scars, growth lines and colour differences between pieces are properties of a natural hide, not faults, and are not grounds for complaint. The leather will darken and gain a patina with light and handling.

Chemicals. Our tanneries confirm compliance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH) Annex XVII, including the chromium VI limit of 3 mg/kg for leather articles in contact with the skin and the restrictions on azo dyes that release listed aromatic amines. Supplier declarations are held on file and available on request.

Animal origin. Bovine hide only, a by-product of the food industry. We do not sell leather from CITES listed or otherwise protected species — no python, no crocodile, no lizard — and we do not sell fur.

Allergy note. Tanning agents, dyes and finishes can cause a contact allergy in a small number of people. We cannot rule that out for any leather article. Stop wearing the item and seek advice if a reaction occurs.

Getting the length right

Do not order by trouser size. Measure an existing belt you like from the fold at the buckle to the hole you actually use, and order that figure. Our straps ship long and are trimmed at home.
