Braided Leather Belt

The braid is the adjustment. The prong goes through anywhere, so there is no fixed hole spacing.

About this article

Nine strands of 3.8 mm hide braided by hand over an 1150 mm run. Because the prong passes between strands wherever you like, the belt adjusts continuously rather than in steps — which makes it the most forgiving belt here if your waist moves through the year. The braid relaxes about 10 mm in the first month and then stops.

  • Continuous adjustment — no holes
  • Nine-strand hand braid
  • Screw-fixed brass roller buckle

  • Braided straps relax by roughly 10 mm over the first month of wear. Allow for that when choosing your length.

Care

Wipe the strap dry after wet weather and let it dry away from radiators. Balm the flesh side twice a year so the strap stays supple where it folds through the buckle.

Leather, materials and compliance

Natural characteristics. Grain variation, visible pores, healed scars, growth lines and colour differences between pieces are properties of a natural hide, not faults, and are not grounds for complaint. The leather will darken and gain a patina with light and handling.

Chemicals. Our tanneries confirm compliance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH) Annex XVII, including the chromium VI limit of 3 mg/kg for leather articles in contact with the skin and the restrictions on azo dyes that release listed aromatic amines. Supplier declarations are held on file and available on request.

Animal origin. Bovine hide only, a by-product of the food industry. We do not sell leather from CITES listed or otherwise protected species — no python, no crocodile, no lizard — and we do not sell fur.

Allergy note. Tanning agents, dyes and finishes can cause a contact allergy in a small number of people. We cannot rule that out for any leather article. Stop wearing the item and seek advice if a reaction occurs.

Getting the length right

Do not order by trouser size. Measure an existing belt you like from the fold at the buckle to the hole you actually use, and order that figure. Our straps ship long and are trimmed at home.
