About this article

The pattern is deliberately plain: two note bays, eight slots, no coin pocket to bulk out the fold. Because the wallet is unlined, the leather you see on the outside is the leather your cards sit against — 1.4 mm of vegetable-tanned full-grain that starts stiff, breaks in over a few weeks and holds the shape of what you carry. Edges are sanded, sealed and burnished by hand; the stitch is a 0.6 mm polyester thread at five stitches per centimetre, which is what survives a decade of a back pocket.

  • 8 card slots, 2 full-length note bays
  • Unlined — no bonded backing to delaminate
  • Hand-burnished edges, no raw cut faces
  • Grows a patina rather than wearing through

Care

Wipe with a dry cloth. Apply a thin coat of leather balm every three to six months, or when the surface feels dry. Let it rest an hour, then buff. Vegetable-tanned leather darkens with light and handling — that change is the point.

Leather, materials and compliance

Natural characteristics. Grain variation, visible pores, healed scars, growth lines and colour differences between pieces are properties of a natural hide, not faults, and are not grounds for complaint. The leather will darken and gain a patina with light and handling.

Chemicals. Our tanneries confirm compliance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH) Annex XVII, including the chromium VI limit of 3 mg/kg for leather articles in contact with the skin and the restrictions on azo dyes that release listed aromatic amines. Supplier declarations are held on file and available on request.

Animal origin. Bovine hide only, a by-product of the food industry. We do not sell leather from CITES listed or otherwise protected species — no python, no crocodile, no lizard — and we do not sell fur.

Allergy note. Tanning agents, dyes and finishes can cause a contact allergy in a small number of people. We cannot rule that out for any leather article. Stop wearing the item and seek advice if a reaction occurs.
